2016 LVTC KIDS TRIATHLONS
As part of The Foot & Ankle Clinic 2016 Summer Series our Little Sparks kids triathlons are back! And more FUN than ever!
Starting off with kids as young as 5 years old these events are set to introduce kids to the exciting world of triathlon. We run a short course and long course event which is set to give the little ones a chance of beating their older competitors to the finish line. It is super serious and a high stakes event (only joking) we do encourage some friendly competition and high fives make the kids go faster. Baskets with flowers and doll seats have appeared at our events in the past.
Kids aged 5 - 11 years are eligible to take part, we offer short and long course to allow for differences in ages and abilities.
Entry is $5 per child, families with 3 or more children only need to pay for the first 2 children.
Please arrive before 8:30am to allow time to get ready, we will run through what's involved with the race before we start at 9am. If you enter online please still check in so we can make sure your child/ children are ready to go.
25m Swim (waist deep)/ 2 lap bike course + 2 lap run
50m Swim (waist deep) 4 lap bike course + 4 lap run
leg One - swim
The swim is the first part of a triathlon, our kids races are done in waist deep water so that the kids who want to swim can and those who aren't as confident can wade through.
leg Two - bike
After completing the swim leg, the next step is the bike leg. All kids must have a bike that is safe to ride (working brakes, no loose bolts, etc). The bike course is all gravel and inside the Hazelwood Pondage Caravan Parks grounds. An approved helmet most be worn and must be fitted properly before riding any bikes. Bmx, mountain bikes, hybrids are all acceptable.
A top must be worn also before starting the bike leg.
LEG Three - run
The final leg of a triathlon is the run leg, This is where the excitement build for the final push to the finish line to become a triathlete.
